Area 4th of July Celebrations July 3-4, 2012 |

Many Keweenaw communities have Independence Day celebrations with parades, childrens games, BBQs, entertainment and good old-fashioned family fun.
The community of Dollar Bay starts off its 4th of July celebration on Tuesday, July 3 with free horse & wagon rides at 6 pm and a street dance at 7:30 pm. Snacks and refreshments will be available at the fire hall starting at 6:30. On Wednesday, July 4 the VFW Memorial Service takes place at 11 am followed by the parade at noon. Children's games will begin at 1:30 pm behind the fire hall and the Franz Family Ministries will perform at 2 pm at Pioneer Park. The snack & refreshment stand, the pasty sale and the chicken BBQ all begin at 10:30.
The Village of Lake Linden will have their fireworks display on Tuesday, July 3 at dusk in the village park. Live music, food and refreshments will be available in the park from 6:30 to 10:30 pm. On Wednesday, July 4 there will be a parade at 9:30 am with live music, activities, games, races, food & refreshments at the Park throughout the day. The Children's Parade begins at 6:30 and there will be a street dance at the Lakes Lounge from 6 to 10 pm with live music.
The Village of South Range begins its 4th of July Celebration with a flag raising at the Community Building at 8 am. Children's races begin at 12:30 am at the Range Veterans Memorial Park. A wood carving expo will be held from 1 to 3 pm on Main Street along with an Elvis Act from 1 to 3 and bag pipes from 2 to 3. The parade is held at 3 pm on Main Street. At 4:30 pm there will be Little League baseball games and more children's games at Veterans Memorial Park. Food and refreshments will be served throughout the Village. The fireworks begin at dusk at the Range Veterans Memorial Park.
Due to construction work on M-26 Hubbell, Tamarack and Mason will have their 4th of July parade at 10:30 am on Wednesday, July 4 starting at Osmose Inc in Hubbell and ending at th Street in Tamarack City. Games for the kids will be held at 1 pm at the Lake Front Park in Hubbell; live music in the park begins at 4 pm.
The community of Gay, MI will hold its 31st Annual Parade at 2 pm on Wednesday, July 4 with a Bazaar/Rummage Sale/Raffle/Soc​ial Hour at the Gay Community Hall from noon to 4 pm. The Gay Fire Department will have hot dogs, liquid refreshments and a raffle on the Gay School grounds from noon to 3 pm.
The Village of Ahmeek will celebrate the 4th of July on Wednesday, July 4th beginning with the bicycle parade at 11 am followed by activities and concessions at the Gabe Chopp Park off US-41 throughout the day. There will be children's games, a penny toss, watermelon eating contest, raffle drawing, bingo, food and refreshments and live music.
The community of Mohawk will begins its 4th of July celebration with a flag raising at 10 am at the Allouez Township Park on US-41 followed by the children's parade at 10:30. There will be children's games, food and treats in the park from noon to 2 pm.
